ecologically sound practices

Olly's Farm is committed to ecologically sound practices, striving for self-sufficiency and working in harmony with nature. The farm operates to organic standards, completely avoiding the use of chemicals, fertilizers, and herbicides. They prioritize recycling and create their own compost and mulches to nourish the soil.

To conserve water, they have a system to harvest rainwater from their buildings for use in the vegetable garden and for the animals. The farm also supports local wildlife by not cutting hay or silage until July to allow birds to nest, and by installing bird, bat, and owl boxes. Additionally, they have incorporated solar panels and a heat pump to make their honey house and home more energy efficient.

Learn About Our Honey

There will be hands on experience looking and using equipment and of course tasting all the different types of honey I produce. Basically the first part of the day will be all the theory and q&s session. Half way through we will break for another tea/coffee and have an informal discussion where guests can ask questions and
everyone on the group can interact.

After tea/coffee we will all get into bee-suits and go visit the
bees here on my farm and everyone will get a chance to work
with the bees as far as they are comfortable with.
